The first generation of the luxury Seville was produced from April 1975 to 1979 as a four-door sedan based on the K-body platform. It was a response to increased customer interest in luxury European sedans. Bill Mitchell was behind the design, which was inspired in part by luxury Rolls-Royces of the time, for example. Cadillac was manufactured in Detroit, Michigan. Under the hood was a single engine, the GM Oldsmobile Rocket V8, a 5.7-liter indirect fuel-injected engine producing 182 hp at 4,400 rpm and 373 Nm of torque. Power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic.
